King’s College London is offering a free 10 week online course: ‘Research Methods: A practical guide to Peer and Community Research’, hosted on FutureLearn, and designed to introduce research methods to anyone who wants to carry out peer or community research to support social change.
The Patient Experience Research Centre at Imperial College London has developed a co-research resource for training people with lived experience. The pack is free to download and can be adapted as required. Additional resources are available on the Imperial College public involvement resource hub as well as public involvement and participatory approaches training available on Coursera.
Partnership for Young London, funded by Trust for London, published a Peer Research Toolkit (2021) based on their learning from supporting 12 projects. They have also delivered a peer research training series - you can access the recording from each session:
This open access handbook (2018) is targeted at members of the public involved in health research and aims to provide knowledge of research methods in order to enable meaningful participation. It was developed as part of the EQUIP study (Enhancing the Quality of User Involved Care Planning in Mental Health Services) funded by the National Institute for Health Research.
