Who are we?
The Refugee Integration Service [RIS] supports new refugees. Migration Yorkshire manages RIS, working with the following partner organisations to provide the service:

RIS is part of a project called Refugee Integration Yorkshire and Humber. This project is co-funded by the European Union Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund [AMIF].
Why we collect and store personal data
For us to support you on the Refugee Integration Service, we need to record some information about you – this is called personal data, and it is information that can be used to identify you [for example, your name and date of birth]; it can include things like your racial or ethnic origin, or about your health and wellbeing.
Our purposes for collecting your personal data are:
- To provide you with a service - the Refugee Integration Service.
- We have to send some of your personal data to the United Kingdom Responsible Authority [UKRA] and to UKRA’s independent evaluator to help them to monitor, audit and evaluate how AMIF funding is being spent. The UKRA manages AMIF funding in the UK. UKRA will not share your personal data with any part of the Home Office.
We will not collect any personal data from you that we do not need for these purposes.
Who is the data controller for the personal data we collect from you?

RIS partner organisations are data controllers for any personal data we collect from you that is additional to the data required by UKRA; we do not send this data to UKRA. Who Migration Yorkshire shares your personal data with
We share your personal data with UKRA and with the local authority that is providing you with the RIS service, for the reasons given above.
We may have to share your information with other organisations without your permission, if we are required to do so by law, for example to prevent the risk of harm to an individual, or if we think a serious crime is likely to happen. We will try to talk to you about this first, unless there is an emergency.
We will not give your information to marketing companies, and we will not sell it, pass it on to UK immigration enforcement agencies or give it out to members of the public.
Our legal basis for processing your personal data
The legal basis Leeds City Council [Migration Yorkshire] relies on for processing your personal data is to carry out a public task.
How Migration Yorkshire will store your information
Migration Yorkshire will keep your information safe. We will store your data securely, electronically in data management systems, and on paper records. Your data will only be seen and processed by Migration Yorkshire staff and the relevant Leeds Council staff whose job role it is to ensure we are handling your data correctly and in accordance with the law.
How long will Migration Yorkshire keep your personal data?
Migration Yorkshire will keep the data for which UKRA is data controller till the end of 2030, because the funders require us to do this. For more information about this, see the AMIF privacy notice
Migration Yorkshire will keep the data for which Leeds City Council is data controller until the end of 2028. This is for legal reasons; in case we are audited.
