About Hong Kong Hub

On 31 January 2021, the British government introduced a British National (Overseas) visa for Hong Kong BN(O) nationals and their dependents, allowing them to come and stay in the UK.

To help Hongkongers to successfully settle into their new communities, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) launched a national support and welcome programme.

Hong Kong Welcome Programme

What we do

Hong Kong Hub plays an integral role in the delivery of the Hong Kong BN(O) Welcome Programme in Yorkshire and Humber, coordinating the welcome of BN(O) status holders into their new communities with local authorities and voluntary and community sector organisations (VCSEs). We provide a range of support based on need of arrivals, which may include:

  • acting as a conduit for sharing of information, aggregated data and evidence between central government, local authorities, regional and local partners and other Hong Kong welcome Hubs to better understand the volume, destination and needs of BN(O) visa holders (please see our privacy notice for more details)
  • providing constructive feedback to central government on issues and challenges that cannot be resolved locally
  • raising awareness of the wider Hong Kong Welcome Programme throughout regional networks, sharing resources and examples of good practice
  • commissioning support for those on the BN(O) route where we they have identified a need for support that is not being met

About Hong Kong Advisory Panel

In order to better understand the lived experience of individuals arriving in Yorkshire and Humber communities, via the BN(O) visa route, we establish the Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) Hong Kong Advisory Panel.

The HKAP is made up of 20-25 members representing diversity of BN(O) visa holders in the region. The panel members meet regularly to share experiences and concerns of new arrivals from Hong Kong; to advise and consult with key agencies involved in designing and delivery of the Hong Kong Welcome Programme; and to help raise a profile of and promote the integration activities being part of the Hong Kong Welcome Programme within the community.
