Resettlement

Migration Yorkshire, as the regional strategic migration partnership, works closely with the Home Office, and with the local authorities in Yorkshire and Humber, to coordinate and match people being resettled in the UK to appropriate accommodation and integration support in the region.

Migration Yorkshire’s Resettlement Team currently manages and coordinates several resettlement schemes:

• The UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS) 
• The Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP) 
• The Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS)

UASC - National Transfer Scheme

Migration Yorkshire helps local authorities to meet the needs of unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) by coordinating UASC referrals across the region from the National Transfer Scheme. We make sure that professionals are able to offer the best support to UASC by providing high quality training and guidance. Welcoming Young Refugees

Welcoming Young Refugees is a project that works with local authorities in Yorkshire and Humber to develop fostering services provision and expertise amongst professionals working with young refugees. We also provide support and training for foster carers and supported lodging providers.

We’ve also carried out research to develop our understanding of the needs, wishes and experiences of unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) - findings will be used to improve services and support offered to young people and their carers.
