About Refugee Integration Yorkshire and Humber
Our ambition is to roll-out a whole-society approach to integration across Yorkshire and Humber and to support new refugees, communities and public services to work with and benefit from each other.
Refugees have a key role, informing all aspects of this work. They will be involved as researchers and as members of a regional refugee integration forum. RIYH aims to create a more integrated Yorkshire and Humber and to benefit communities beyond the lifetime of the project.
Migration Yorkshire are managing the project, and it's being delivered across the region through a wide partnership of organisations.
What are we doing?
- A regional plan for refugee integration shaped by refugees, communities and key organisations and overseen by the new regional refugee integration forum.
- Unique research into refugee integration, involving refugees, key organisations, employers and the public.
- Regional integration events including a festival of integration, and a range of workshops for local authorities, the voluntary and community sector, employers and more.
- Toolkits, best practice guidance, reports and creative outputs on key topics developed from research and service delivery.
- Key information for delivering integration including a regional ESOL directory, local data resources, a research database and translated resources for migrants.
- Engaging key audiences: embedding migrant participation throughout the regional integration work; engaging the public though promoting and coordinating volunteering, fostering and support opportunities; and working with employers to create opportunities and inclusive practice.
