Festival fringe

In the run-up to the main Yorkshire Integration Festival event on Saturday, Migration Yorkshire is hosting the Yorkshire Integration Festival Fringe. This is an opportunity for people to share ideas, learn from each other and hear about research and best practice across Yorkshire and Humber, and we even have some light-hearted fun on Friday, to help us prepare greeting folks from all corners of Yorkshire and the world on Saturday (Ey-Up!)

Many of the sessions are open to all and some are by invitation. Full details of all the sessions and the booking information is listed below. Follow the links for more information on each event and to book or request attendance.

Tuesday 20 September

• 10:00-11:30 Unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) carer support group
• 12:00-13:15 Introduction to psychological first aid: supporting UASC
• 13:30-15:00 Promoting social connections in Yorkshire and Humber: What works? 
• 16:30-18:00 Working together, ESOL in Yorkshire and Humber

Note that the conference on refugee integration and housing in Yorkshire and Humber at Cast, Doncaster has been postponed to 1 November.

Wednesday 21 September

• 9:30-16:00 Introduction to human trafficking
• 12:00-13:30 Becoming an ESOL teacher: Hong Kong drop-in session
• 15:00-15:15 Introducing the Book of Refugees

Thursday 22 September

• 10:00-11:15 Supporting young people seeking asylum in a hostile environment (PAFRAS)
• 13:00 - 14:00 Who are Hong-Kongers coming to Yorkshire and Humber and why are they here?
• 14:00-15:00 Working with interpreters, with refugees in child and family therapy settings

Friday 23 September

• 11:00-12:00 Yorkshire's Roma communities after Brexit and Covid
• 13:00-13:50 Ey-Up! Greetings around the world
• 19:30-21:30 Performance: 'How to be lucky' at the Carriageworks, Leeds
