Each quarter we’ll round up some key news stories and reports related to refugee integration. If you’d like more regular updates on refugee integration and other areas of migration, check out our weekly policy bulletin.
- As part of the updates to its new website, the Migration Yorkshire research team is promoting different research papers they have been working on with research partners on the subject of integration. - The latest edition of the magazine Forced Migration Review offers a range of free articles on the topic of socio-economic integration, including a look at social connection in Scotland. (Source: Oxford University)
- Scotland is planning to refresh its refugee integration strategy so that it reflects the needs of newest refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine, and extends English and employability support. (Source: Herald)
- The ‘Everyday Bordering in the UK’ project explored the relationship between migrants and social care workers and how migrant families might experience ‘everyday borders’ in the services they receive. Organisations from Hull and Sheffield collaborated on the three-year research project. A briefing note and toolkit on Supporting Migrant Communities are available, aimed at social care practitioners. - This article explores a recent research project in Manchester, ‘Uncertain Futures’, on experiences of older women in the workplace, highlighting stories of migrant women facing language barriers and discrimination - often ‘invisible’ in low-paid, zero-hours contract roles, with little chance to progress or utilise their skills. - A panel discussion looked at actionable policy proposals to address racial equality, covering a wide range of issues such as representation, hate crime and equality of opportunity in the workplace. (Source: British Future)

- Jess Thompson, Founder of Migrateful (an organisation where refugee cooks teach their traditional cuisines to the public in cookery classes), discusses the importance of projects bringing together people from different communities and backgrounds such as through shared experience of food.
