MY Response– ICIBI call for evidence, an inspection into Home Office’s use of age assessments

Summary: Migration Yorkshire recently submitted evidence to the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Co Migration Yorkshire recently submitted evidence to the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration (ICIBI) on their inspection into the Home Office’s use of age assessments. Our response is informed by the work of our UASC service which undertakes strategic coordination work supporting Local Authorities children’s services teams, Home Office and the Department for Education with the National Transfer Scheme and ensuring there is high quality support for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children across the region. The UASC service is led and managed by qualified social workers who have previously worked in voluntary and statutory settings with UAS children, including directly undertaking age assessments and acting as an appropriate adult during age assessments.

MY Response – Consultation on Reforms to Social Housing Allocation

Summary: Migration Yorkshire recently submitted evidence to the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities consultation on reforms to social housing allocation. Our submissions were informed by our regional role as a Strategic Migration Partnership, coordinating and supporting engagement on a variety of different migration schemes in Yorkshire and Humber. We gathered evidence from local authority partners as part of our work on asylum, Refugee Integration Service, refugee resettlement and other key programmes.

MY Response – Education Committee Inquiry on Children's Social Care

Summary: Migration Yorkshire recently submitted evidence to the Education Committee’s inquiry on children’s social care. Our response is informed by our strategic coordination work supporting Local Authorities children’s services teams, Home Office and the Department for Education with the National Transfer Scheme. Our response relates specifically to unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) and young refugees within the children’s social care system.

We gathered evidence from partners as part our work on asylum, Refugee Integration, Ukraine scheme, Hong Kong BN(O) Welcome Programme and other key programmes.

Response to the Commission on the Integration for Refugees

Inquiry Response December 2022

Summary: Migration Yorkshire recently submitted evidence to the Joint Committee on Human Rights inquiry into the Human Rights of Asylum Seekers in the UK.

Our submissions were informed by our regional role as a Strategic Migration Partnership, coordinating and supporting engagement on a variety of different migration schemes in Yorkshire and Humber. We gathered evidence from our experience working on asylum issues, National Transfer Scheme, UK Resettlement Scheme, Afghan Schemes, Ukraine Schemes and the Hong Kong Welcome Programme.

Inquiry Response September 2022

Summary: Migration Yorkshire recently submitted evidence to the House of Lords Justice and Home Affairs Committee’s inquiry into family migration

Our submissions were informed by the experience of our partners in Yorkshire and Humber. We gathered evidence from a variety of sectors including local authorities, voluntary and community sector groups, immigration law providers and the Health sector2, covering multiple projects we coordinate in the region such as Connecting Opportunities, Refugee Integration Service, Hong Kong Welcome Programme and the Ukraine Scheme.
