Housing report to the Migration Impacts Forum
Aims
The report was produced for the Migrant Impacts Forum to outline housing issues.
Key issues
The report outlines the context of housing and migration and some key housing issues as well as related issues. The context relates to types of migrants, their entitlements and take up of social housing, which is thought to be very low. Most recent migrants are thought to live in the private rented sector. Key issues arising from consultations and discussion with the housing sector are information and data, access to housing and specific impacts on the private rented sector. The report also identifies examples of local authority good practice and issues for further consideration on each point. Two local authority good practice case studies are provided in appendices.
Conclusions
There is a need for better and more timely data on general migration patters and housing specific information.
