Applying for Certificates of No Criminal Conviction (CNCC)

The landing page of the Hong Kong BN(O) Welcome Programme has been updated.

The page includes information on how to access support elements such as Welcome Hubs, VCSE projects, English language, and hate crime reporting.

A new letter from DLUHC on Certificates of No Criminal Conviction (CNCCs) has also been added – scroll down to the new Resources section. The CNCC letter is available in Chinese as well (you can change the language settings at the top of the GOV.UK page).

Reporting hate crime and seeking related support

Funded by the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC) through the Hong Kong BN(O) Welcome Programme, On Your Side is the service led by the independent charity Protection Approaches alongside a consortium of mainly East and Southeast Asian Community organisations. The service operates independently of the UK Government.

This is the place to find support and make a report if you experience or witness racism or any other form of hate. This could include verbal harassment in person or online, criminal damage such as graffiti, or physical violence perpetrated because of hostility against an aspect (or assumed aspect) of a person’s identity such as their race, gender, religion, disability, sexuality, or political beliefs.

No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)

The BN(O) visa contains the "no recourse to public funds" (NRPF) condition, which means that BN(O) visa holders are unable to access benefits considered 'public funds', such as access income-related welfare benefits including Universal Credit, social housing allocation from the local authority or local authority homelessness assistance.  However, you may apply for a change to your NRPF conditions and get access to public funds in some circumstances.
