Migration Yorkshire supports people and organisations to achieve the most positive outcomes of migration for everyone in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Migration Yorkshire provides leadership and coordination, evidence, and practical assistance to organisations from all sectors at local, regional and national level. We believe in improving understanding, supporting the integration of migrants and maximising opportunities for all to create a more equal and enriched society.

Migration Yorkshire is a partnership of councils working across the whole of the Yorkshire and Humber region and is based in Leeds.

Our governance

Migration Yorkshire is a local authority-led partnership which works across the whole of the Yorkshire and Humber region.  We are overseen by the Migration Yorkshire Board, which is comprised of members from all local authorities in the regions. We are hosted by Leeds City Council.

We coordinate and represent local government on migration issues regionally and nationally. We work with and support a lead Council Chief Executive and a Council Leader on migration who represent other Council Chief Executives and local government political leadership at the national level.

Our partners

A core purpose of ours is building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to deliver a collaborative and partnership approach to migration. Key partners include local authorities, national government departments, health, police, education, the private sector, the voluntary sector and refugee and migrant community groups.

By generating inclusive networks and building trusted partnerships we communicate, share information and bring partners together quickly to implement programmes, consolidate learning and provide feedback on emerging issues or policies.

Our key partnership structure is the Strategic Migration Group.

Our priorities

We have four priorities:

1.          Providing leadership and coordination

2.         Improving understanding and evidence

3.         Supporting local integration

4.         Responding to change
