Wednesday 9 July 2025

From 09:30 to 14:30

The training provides an overview on needs and challenges faced by unaccompanied children seeking asylum in the UK. It is an introductory course suitable for participants with little or no knowledge, or professionals who need a refresher, on supporting unaccompanied asylum seeking
children.

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Understand the terminology around migration.
  • Acquire a general knowledge on processes (NTS, NRM, age assessments etc.) and asylum policies that young people may experience the UK.
  • Understand the reasons young people flee, the journey, life and social experiences that have an impact on young people’s engagement and mental health.
  • Learn about emotional challenges faced by young people and how to support them in a trauma-informed way.
  • Gain information and awareness of national agencies and resources which will inform and support professionals while working and supporting young people.
  • Have a platform to share best practices and learn from others’ experiences.
  • Receive advice and access support to help young people settle into the community.
