Participation can mean or include a range of different practices and concepts; it is difficult to pin down. However, we have listed the following aspects of participation:

  • Refugees are being informed, and their views are respected and acted upon by relevant stakeholders

  • Refugees are involved in the design of services and in the decisions that affect them or people with similar experiences
  • Knowledge and information about refugees are central to service delivery and strategic decisions
  • Refugees have access to various forms of activities to increase their influence over decisions that effect their lives
  • Organisations adopt refugee participation as an operational value
  • Refugees are recognised as key partners/stakeholders
